Art Journal Page- Inspire

Yesterday was cold and rainy and my hubby was sweet enough to light a little fire in my studio for me. (( because I swore I would'nt have a fire on in JUNE!!)) Anyway I started cleaning up a bit, rearranging things and I found some old watercolours that were destined for the garbage and decided to add them to my art journal. I haven't been using my journal for some time and really felt the urge to play with some paint and glue! I'm really glad I decided to keep that little painting because it was fun getting myself reaquainted with my art journal.

Cam's Graduation From D.H.S June 26, 2009

Graduation Day

Yesterday was Cameron's graduation from D.H.S and what a busy day it was! It was hot and sunny and the town was filled with a sense of pride and excitement. I was so proud of all the students and it was amazing to see how they have grown and matured since they were in public school. Tomorrow's world leaders may be one of ours someday, and it blows my mind when I think of it. Cam is returning to D.H.S next September to take more of his sciences and a part of me is relieved that I will have another year with him at home before he embarks on his journey, whatever it shall be. I am so proud of you Cameron , you have grown into a wonderful son and a caring young man.

It's Been a Hard Day's Night

It's Been a Hard Day's Night

I feel this puppy's pain! It was the last day of school today and all the kids were excited and hyper , pumped up with sugar from popsicles, freezies, cookies, cake, chips, juice, blah, blah , blah! It's a bittersweet day as I'm glad to be home but will miss all of them and the wonderful teacher I had the pleasure to work with. Tomorrow is my son's graduation from Dryden High School and I am trying to mentally prepare myself and wrap my mind around the fact that I now have 2 boys that have graduated! Where is the time going?? Life really does fly by when you are an adult so I am going to enjoy every minute of it and slow down to appreciate all the little things I don't find the time for. Like my hammock for instance! :)

To Amy, Love Justin....

A special custom order for a young man wanting to surprise his girlfriend on her graduation day. This piece has a silver locket with both intials tucked inside, a silver charm with the word "love" from a vintage children's book, a vintage rhinestone , and a silver heart . This gift is sure to make this the best prom a girl could ask for .

Custom Orders

Wow! The weekend is here again and I don't know where the time went. This time of year is busy at work and in the studio. Grad orders are coming in and orders for other occasions as well, so I'm a busy girl....and a tired one too! Here are a couple of the custom charm bracelets I made last week (( but too exhausted to post them! lol )) It was ordered by one customer who wants to give one to her 2 sisters who are very different from each other. One sister , who's nickname is Di, she has a blond son, and loves post it notes and the colour blue! The other sister loves colour, has 2 yorkies, collects barbies...(( i'm still working on that charm )) and who's nick name is Jack. I love making these personal pieces because you just can't find them anywhere else and it is really all about them. One more to go for this customer and it's for her daughter who is graduating grade 8, this will be a fun one! The other orders I have will be posted later this weekend as I plan to play as much as I can before I go back to work on Monday!

Yard Sale Saturday

Coffee. Great friends. Sun shining. Laughter. Yard sale signs....

What a fantastic morning I had searching for treasures with my "peeps" (( inside joke )) Found a cool table with an enamel top , white peeling paint...LOVE IT! I got it for a song. $5 ! I put it in my sunroom with a couple of white chairs and it looks fabuuu! I also found an old dewy decimal card holder...remember those?? Took a little more time to find a book but oh so cool to go through! It's funked up with red and black paint and I think I just might leave it like that. A tiny bible caught my eye and inside was an inscription. (( see photo)) A wedding present given in 1915! So cool. Lastly I found a very old hand forged metal golf putter with a wooden handle for Mark , my hubby. He loved it! I'll try to find out more about these items but until then I'm just going to enjoy them and remember all the laughs I had with the girls while we were searching for them.

July's Splendor

July's Splendor

Today as I was walking to my car I actually felt like visiting a garden centre or greenhouse! I think I will plant some of my flower pots this weekend and pray for the sun to stay! It has been a depressing start to the summer so far but eventually it will turn around...it has to! I do have a back up plan though. If I can't plant them, I will just have to paint them!

You can definately tell it's the end of the school year and all the kids have had enough. I love my job as an Educational Assistant but WOW I had a tough week. Probably why I'm so tired...
This weekend I am hoping to do some gardening and some creating in the studio. LOTS of orders to fill for the "locals" lol but Etsy is still not selling . Takes time I guess and I am still learning the ropes! Well I guess I better get ready to face another day with those excited 8 year olds! Hopefully it's an art day!

Sun...Is That You???

Holy sunshine batman!!

So happy to see the sun today and enjoy the outdoors without winter gear! This May and June has not been warm or sunny one bit and makes for some long days. Long uninspiring days....
The studio wood pile is depleted and I REFUSE to light another fire in June so I'll have to work quickly and dress warm. Isn't that crazy?
Despite the depressing sky I did create a couple of jewelry pieces this week and had alot of fun designing them. One piece ((the long multi-coloured chain link)) will be on it's way to Vancouver at the end of the month as a birthday gift. This will be the second piece to have travelled to B.C and I'm very happy about it. I know it's only 2 pieces but it is still exciting. One piece has even made it to Tanzania!! Hope I spelt that right.... we didn't learn that word in grade 3 yet!

I plan to play quite a bit this weekend whether it's snowing , sleeting or raining! I will post more pictures as they become available.

Sleepy head

Today I am very tired and disappointed that my energy level is so low. I have so many orders to fill and new beads to play with! I spent my morning running the boys to and from work , cleaning a very messy house and cooking . It's not even 5 p.m and I am ready for my P.J's and bed. Sad...
Well tomorrow is another day and I will ignore any laundry, dishes and yard work until I finish playing . Priorities!

Had some orders to fill this weekend for a couple of customers. One just loved the chunky charm necklace I had made a couple of weeks ago which is very original and one of a kind. I love making things that I haven't seen before and try to stay original and true to what I love. It's hard to set yourself apart from other people but I keep on trying to stand out.
Another piece I made which is very meaningful is "The Colours of Cancer" bracelet for a co-worker who lost her father last year to cancer. This bracelet boasts all the 13 colours of various forms of cancer and I am going to donate a portion of sales to the cancer society. This customer wanted one made for herself and one for her sister which she will send on Father's Day. It's so wonderful to have a piece of my jewelry touch anothers life and be so personal.
The above art piece is another little banner idea for my future web-site. I am super excited about this and cannot wait to show all of you! Thanks for all your support over the years!
