Things I've Learned In 2009

1. The dirty dishes can wait-especially when I'm feeling creative! 2. When you believe in yourself, others will believe in you. 3. Smiles can change the outcome of an otherwise not so cheery day. 4. Surround yourself with positive people. 5. Live life with no regrets. 6. Hold on to a great friend-they are treasures and hard to find. 6. Tell your children and family you love them everyday. 7. Do something that scares you and you'll discover it isn't so scary after all. 8.laugh instead of cry. 9. Love yourself. 10. Be Happy!

Merry Christmas!

Getting the Christmas tree this year seemed impossible due to all the busy schdules and lack of four wheel drive in our truck. However a very good friend of mine just happened to have an extra tree cut down in her garage.... I know, who does this? So my dear parents stopped by with said tree in the back of their truck and saved Christmas! Here are a few photos of that visit and of the Schmidt Christmas tree all decorated up.....before the cat knocked it down. So glad I had some photos taken! (big sigh!)

" Sisters"

As a girl with 2 brothers ( whom I love very much...) I can appreciate and often wonder how the closeness strong bond between sisters must be like. When a good friend of mine asked me to create a special something for her sister, I knew just what to do. First thing was to gather the old black and white photos of the two of them....and aren't they gorgeous! I think the photos speak volumes of their relationship even at this tender age, and so my work was very easy. The collage piece is double sided so it may hang in a window, doorway or any other little space that needs some colour and sparkle. These pieces of art have been one of my favourites to create as it is a very personal tribute and something that can be passed down for generations. In the new year I will be adding gifts like this to my Etsy shop and my web-site ( under construction! ) To all that have supported my little business this holiday season, I am extremely grateful and proud to have given a little piece of my art to you all .

Custom Orders Continue....

As soon as I get the list down a little ... it goes back up a little! It's a crazy , wonderful, very busy season for me and I think I may need some of Santas little Elves to help me out! A few more to add to the list today but that's perfectly okay, I never say no to an order!

Seeing Double

I love wearing more than one piece together and often mix and match my necklaces for an unexpected look. I am so glad I do this because it has caught on and my sales are doubling because of it! Thanks everyone! Michelle....these 2 are for you, I hope you love them as much as I do.

Second Shipment- Pretty Packages

A very sweet friend of mine from Nova Scotia lost her husband last year to Cancer. Her children and herself moved from Japan back to Cape Breton after his death to where she grew up. I felt very privledged when she asked me to design 8 Colours Of Cancer Bracelets as gifts to all those wonderful people who had helped her through this difficult time. Although I won't post pictures of the bracelets now, as they are Christmas gifts, I will show you all the pretty little packages that will greet her when she opens them. God bless you and your family this holiday Setsu, you are such a remarkable woman and beautiful friend.

This sweet little present is on it's way to the East Coast! I love coming up with the presentation of my art and jewelry as much as I love creating it! Who wouldn't love to see this beauty under the tree??

I Have A Vision.....

Well I'm still working on my vision board and I'm slowly getting it finished , a little at a time. As with every project I just can't keep it simple and slap it together spontaneously...I've put a lot of thought into this and it is a work in progress. I've used the feng shui method which puts everything into a particular spot on the board ie: wealth- top left corner, friends, travel- bottom right etc. I am enjoying this very much and I am learning more about myself everyday and setting goals to accomplish things that I have put off for years. Thanks Margot for giving me the boost I needed to get on with this project....and welcome home I missed you!! Oh and one more thing.... her trip to Costa Rica was on her vision board!!

Ahhhh Sweet November....Rain???

The general talk around town is not about snow plowing , winter tires or the latest hot snow machine....it's about how beautiful November has been! It's hard to believe that there is no snow out there yet and that tonight it's actually raining out! Here are a few shots I took of our yard while taking a "creative break" with my loyal doggie Storm. I'm loving this month!

Christmas Is On It's Way !!!!

Been very busy working in my studio the past few weeks creating some orders for customers and for the 2 stores in town that carry my pieces. These are the ones I've dropped off at Ella Lynns today and I am on my way back out to stoke the stove and make some more. These necklaces have glass beads, homemade clay beads, pewter pendants, and some leather pieces I hand cut myself! I love the leather pieces, it really gives the piece an earthy time worn look.
The next round of orders are very special and I can't wait to share them with you! Stayed tuned and let me know what you think.
