The weather has been frightful so I put down the gardening gloves and went to the studio. I made a few cool summer chokers that are casual and cute and go with everything. You can wear them alone or with another. I always seem to wear 2 of them together . I've dabbled in homemade clay beads which I love and have also tried making paper beads out of discarded newspaper etc. These are fun and since I've always loved working with words these pieces are one of my favs! I'm going to try to do some paper beads with comic strips and maybe some of my own artwork. Gotta try new things!

2 Paint or 2 Bead...That Was The Question!
I felt like painting , had the urge to break open the acrylics and be messy, lay something from my head onto a concrete surface for all to admire..But wait! Are those beads and babbles calling out for me as well? What's a girl to do? Well I did both, painted some beachy shells and made fun summer bling! See, you can have it all!

Art Journal - Colours of Nature
Working in my art journal is such a great way for me to relax and be creative without worrying about the outcome. It's a great way for me to work out any creative blocks and do some soul searching all at once. It really is my therapy. Sometimes even I am surprised at what the final outcome is as I have no plan when I begin . I just go in with the idea that I need to create something to keep the artistic juices flowing and I find something that is inspiring me at that precise moment (something on my desk, a phone call, my family, nature ....) and I let it just happen. Today I took my coffee outside and sat in the sun and looked around at all the beautiful surroundings. The lake, the wildlife, the sun in the trees.... and especially the beautiful birds that come to call. I looked down on the grass and I saw this beautiful piece of birch bark and just like that an idea was born. This is what inspired me today ,nature and it's gorgeous palette. I wonder what will inspire me tomorrow?

Art Journal Page- Inspire
Yesterday was cold and rainy and my hubby was sweet enough to light a little fire in my studio for me. (( because I swore I would'nt have a fire on in JUNE!!)) Anyway I started cleaning up a bit, rearranging things and I found some old watercolours that were destined for the garbage and decided to add them to my art journal. I haven't been using my journal for some time and really felt the urge to play with some paint and glue! I'm really glad I decided to keep that little painting because it was fun getting myself reaquainted with my art journal.

Graduation Day
Yesterday was Cameron's graduation from D.H.S and what a busy day it was! It was hot and sunny and the town was filled with a sense of pride and excitement. I was so proud of all the students and it was amazing to see how they have grown and matured since they were in public school. Tomorrow's world leaders may be one of ours someday, and it blows my mind when I think of it. Cam is returning to D.H.S next September to take more of his sciences and a part of me is relieved that I will have another year with him at home before he embarks on his journey, whatever it shall be. I am so proud of you Cameron , you have grown into a wonderful son and a caring young man.

It's Been a Hard Day's Night

It's Been a Hard Day's Night

I feel this puppy's pain! It was the last day of school today and all the kids were excited and hyper , pumped up with sugar from popsicles, freezies, cookies, cake, chips, juice, blah, blah , blah! It's a bittersweet day as I'm glad to be home but will miss all of them and the wonderful teacher I had the pleasure to work with. Tomorrow is my son's graduation from Dryden High School and I am trying to mentally prepare myself and wrap my mind around the fact that I now have 2 boys that have graduated! Where is the time going?? Life really does fly by when you are an adult so I am going to enjoy every minute of it and slow down to appreciate all the little things I don't find the time for. Like my hammock for instance! :)

A special custom order for a young man wanting to surprise his girlfriend on her graduation day. This piece has a silver locket with both intials tucked inside, a silver charm with the word "love" from a vintage children's book, a vintage rhinestone , and a silver heart . This gift is sure to make this the best prom a girl could ask for .
