Casual Cuties!

Thought I'd spend some time in my cabin/ studio yesterday and make some necklaces for a couple local stores. These pieces are for casual wear but with the right summer outfit can be the hit of the party! I love it when that happens!

Bling Bling....

Thunder and lightning very very frightning!!! So I went out into the studio and played with my beads! Yes we had a thunder storm that lasted all day and night and there is nothing else to do on a day like that now is there? So I made a few pieces, and there are some more to be pictured later so stayed tuned. :)

Heart The Art Prompts 2010 Week # 16 - "Ephemera"

Week 15 is all about any ephemera we have laying around. WELL! I have tonnes so it was really hard trying to figure out what to do. I put on my layer of gesso, painted a layer of raw sienna on it, then for kicks and giggles glued down an old McCalls dress pattern to it. I love the vintage aged look and since it was a dress pattern I thought I'd stick with the fashion theme and use up a few of my clothing tag collection on it. I'm quite happy with it and loved how it all came together. Sometimes things just work better when you don't have a plan and just play.

Sweet Sixteen

Wow! My little girl is sixteen years old today. It seems like yesterday she was holding my hand and asking me to push her higher on the swings. Why does the time have to go by and our babies have to grow up so quickly? I loved all those little girl giggles and cute little pig tails. Even when she was upset with me she was still so cute! After having 2 boys she was a beautiful surprise for her father and I and has been a blessing ever since. Michaela you have blossomed into a beautiful young girl with a big heart and creative talents galore. We love you so much, please don't ever change. xoxoxoxox

Jewelry For Dragons Den

Hello Dragons my name is Lisa I am from Dryden and I am terrified! lol

Getting hair and make-up done I felt so important! What a blast omg I was so nervous!

The producers going over a few things with us, where to stand etc. during the shooting of the show.

These are the stairs we had to walk down and It was so surreal when we actually heard the countdown and told to go! My legs were shaking, heart was pounding....

Here are the chairs the Dragons will be sitting in! It was so exciting and such an amazing experience! Can't wait until it is aired! We'll know a week before when all the editing is completed.

On our recent trip to The Dragons Den to pitch http://www.evergreenmemories.ca/ we presented them with tree seed kits and I created these tags to go on top of each kit. The top clay piece is their first initial and the bottom one is a Dragon. Wish I had a picture of the kits they were beautiful.

Some good luck necklaces I made for the trip with our initials, clay dragons , bloodstone and citrine semi precious stones.

Finally these are the necklaces I made for us to wear for the taping of the show. We all wore black then Margot had a green shirt, Merrill had a blue one and I wore fushia.

Heart The Art Prompts Week # 15 "Searching"

It's a hard thing sometimes, to just be yourself, but in the long run it is the most important thing you will ever do. We're all guilty of wanting to be someone else, dress like someone else, have the same talents as someone else, same bodies, brains, legs..... it just goes on and on. However I feel that with age and maturity you realize that who you are is someone pretty amazing and special because you are YOU! So what if I can't sing or don't drive the best car. Do I really need longer legs or a thinner body? I have finally discovered this girl who is funny, has original creative ideas, positive attitude, great hair (thanks Sandi!) short legs (thanks mom!)and a pretty great smile. It's time to embrace my individuality and be grateful that I am who I am , big feet and all :)

Heart The Arts Prompt 2010 Week #1 " Amazing "

I have a few weeks to catch up on and I did "Amazing" last night so I can get a little closer to where I should be! It was a quickie and I had a lot of fun with it. Art Journals are really all about emotion and spontaneity so I just let loose and played around with doodles and colours. I'm going to do # 15 tonight because by this Saturday it will be Week 18 I'm supposed to be on! Whew! oh well , less chatter and more painting! Toodles! xo

New Little Goodies!!

Well it just wouldn't be pay day now if I didn't go out and buy some new goodies to play with! I swear I only stopped to buy groceries, cleaning supplies and to pay some bills! Oh well, with Mother's Day coming up it seemed like a good idea. I cannot wait to start playing! The new pieces are from Jolee's Jewels line and are Crystallized Swarovski Elements. Absolutely beautiful colours, shine and sparkle! The yellow rose pendant is stunning and would look gorgeous with some pearls and gold chain! The pink and iridescent hearts are so pretty and also the clear crystal flower ones! Can you tell I'm excited?? Heart The Arts Prompt Week # 13- "Need"

Well when I saw the word for this week's prompt I immediately thought, "I NEED MONEY!!" because "I NEED A NEW CAR!" Yes the joys of owning materials things..... However when I really thought about this entry I wanted to remain positive not greedy or concerned over what others thought of my little ole beater ( even though pieces of it are literally falling off whenever I go to work....the other day it was the driver's side mirror!!) My poor kids! Not embarassed at all! So I keep telling myself that I already am wealthy and I can have anything I want, money is absolutely no object! So that leaves the things that money cannot buy which is friendship, family, and of course love. I love the Beatles and their song, "All You Need Is Love" is a favourite of mine and therefore is a major part of this entry. As with all my journal pieces , the pages are spontaneous and I just go for whatever is tugging at my brain in that moment. The paint trickling down the page reminded me of rain drops which then reminded me of shelter in the form of an umbrella to keep all those little cuties warm and dry.....LOVE. That is all we need. :)

Happy 22nd Birthday Brendan

Every time I celebrate the birthdays of my children I feel this little twinge of sadness because another year has gone by and they are a tiny bit closer to leaving the nest. Brendan turned 22 today and has grown into such a wonderful young man . I am so proud of the person he has grown to be and know that the day he decides to fly away out into the world I will have to let him go. I can only hope and pray that the world is kind to him and treats him well. Brendan, as you celebrate your birthday today always remember how much you are loved and how proud all of us are of you.

Heart The Art Prompts 2010 Week # 12 "Lucky"

I am sooooo behind in these entries!! Yikes! I have 3 more to do and jewelry orders piling up! I will do it though with the help of Starbucks! Anyhoo, this prompt was "Lucky" and because I do consider myself a lucky girl ( trapped in an unlucky girls body....) this is what I came up with! Fund Raising For My Toronto Trip! :)

I'm 2 weeks behind in my art journal but I had to get caught up with the jewelry making and replenish the rack downtown. My hubby and I are going to Toronto for the Easter weekend and I am sooooo excited! We are staying with some friends and will be having a lot of laughs, food and drinks! So before I go I thought I'd do some "fund raising" and make more necklaces ! Need some cashola for shopping! Anyway here are a few more for you and hopefully when I return on Tuesday I can concentrate on my prompts for the journal so I don't get another week behind! Happy Easter everyone!
